Summit on Children and the Outdoors

GA No Child Left Inside Summit on Children and the Outdoors. This summit will be held on Saturday, October 23 from 9:30 am – 3:45 pm for the purpose of providing an opportunity for decision makers and community leaders to better understand and discuss the connection between youth detachment from the outdoors, lack of physical exercise and increased health risks. “American Veda” Lectures

Philip Goldberg, Huffington Post blogger and author of 19 books, speaks about his new book “American Veda,” a fascinating look at India’s impact on Western religion, spirituality and culture, from the Transcendentalists, among them Emerson and Thoreau, to followers of Transcendental Meditation (TM) in the 1960s, to today’s many faith communities which incorporate contemplation in their practices.  He speaks about the 1893 Parliament of Religions in Chicago, where Swami Vivekananda introduced rapt audiences to the wisdom of the Vedas, the ancient scriptures of India, and the concept that all religions lead to the mountain top.  Admission is free.
