Message from the President & CEO

Collie Burdette, Jr.Over the years, AIB has become known for embracing differences and promoting respect. 2010 was no different. Combining fiscal performance with purpose, our programming and educational partnerships provided a variety of unparalleled viewing options—both locally and globally. Even with emotionally charged issues, it was our goal to provide insightful, open and honest discussions.

In a continuing effort to seek ways to be positive global citizens, we participated in the national campaign, “A Million Minutes for Peace” and on the local level received the Grants to Green Assessment Award to enable us to create a more energy efficient work environment and lower our carbon footprint. We launched a nationally marketed AIB phone app on the Odyssey Network’s “Call On Faith” and expanded community partnerships, donating almost $1.3 million in services to our communities. Increased focus was placed on providing a variety of documentary choices examining both, social and faith-based topics. Our special presentations were once again, strong, entertaining and poignant.

For the third year in a row, an AIB original program was nominated for an Emmy. Praise Central – Winter’s Halo episode was nominated in the category of Outstanding Achievement in television news and program specialty excellence. This was AIB’s fourth Emmy nomination in 5 years. In fact, we were proud to be the recipient of many other honors that are spotlighted throughout the annual report.

Maintaining our leadership status, emphasis on internet programming continued. Our streaming network, AIBNet.tv expanded to 24 hours a day and Video On Demand programming options were expanded. Additionally, our web site was enhanced and redesigned to feature AIB’s many offerings.

As we look to the future, AIB will continue to embrace, distribute and produce uplifting programming that seeks to inspire and inform. Helen Keller once said, “the highest result of education is Tolerance”. We couldn’t agree more.
